Oh summer is finally upon us here in Wisconsin. It took a long time coming but we are finally ready for hot summer nights and drinks by the fire. Which is precisely why I whipped up a batch of Kombucha Cocktails this past weekend!
This idea had been on my radar for awhile and it was finally sunny and gorgeous this past weekend, so decided it was time to give it a try.
The combination might sound a little mad to you, but my reasoning was quite simple. I had both rose water and lemonade kombucha chilling in my fridge.
And I wanted something to quench my thirst on a hot day and what better beverage than lemonade kombucha! I purchased the Synergy brand, but any brand and most flavors will work well for this.
Kombucha is a household favorite around here. I got Eric hooked a couple months ago and we now go through 2 gallons per week. We don’t drink soda or juice, so this is our healthy alternative. Kombucha is loaded with probiotics which are amazing for your gut and digestion. (To read more about probiotics click HERE).
But today we are here about cocktails.
I don’t drink alcohol much any more, but wanted to have a healthy go to when I did feel adventurous or had a party to go to. (Here is our guide to Vegan Alcohol!)
As you probably know, liquor itself is not all that bad for you when consumed in moderation. There have even been studies linking it to health benefits.
BUT what typically ruins this for most people is not the liquor, but what they are mixing it with.
The average person mixes hard liquor with soda or juice. Both extra sugary and unnecessary. (This is why I typically just stick to one glass of wine for the occasion).
So, when I stumbled on the idea of kombucha as the mixer, I was intrigued and had to give it a try!
This recipe is sure to be a crowd pleaser at your next girl’s night or family holiday!
What you’ll need:
Rose Water (Find our super easy DIY recipe HERE)
Lemonade Kombucha (Again, I bought Synergy)
Up for trying out some homemade kombucha? (It’s on my list to do) But try out this How To!
Add 1 ounce of tequila and 1 ounce of rose water and stir (or feel free to use a martini shaker).
Pour over ice into a glass and fill remaining with kombucha.
Add rose petals and raspberries for a garnish. I also added rosemary for a cute touch.
You could also try mashing the raspberries at the bottom of the glass to add more flavor to the drink!
This recipe can also be increased for a pitcher of it. Now that I am thinking about it, that would have made a great picture for this post…I’ll have to try it next time!
*The great thing about this recipe is you can certainly sub in other mix-ins. Play around with the combination.
One of my favorite kombucha flavors is lavender, I might have to try a lavender and blackberry recipe next time!
If you give this a try, I would love to hear how you like it! Tag me on Instagram! @jackielutze
Happy summer cocktailing!
